News Archives // Archive Index // Latest NewsSuicide Closes Fruitvale Station, Causes Delays // December 25th, 2005An apparent suicide at the Fruitvale station this Christmas morning caused the station to close for nearly two hours and delayed train schedules systemwide by about 25 minutes. The 39 year old man jumped in front of a Richmond bound train at 9:21 a.m., but earlier reports erroneously indicated the victim was a young woman. The train operator is believed to be the only witness. An alternate bus route was established for passengers until the station was fully reopened at 11:18.
